We’re delighted to welcome Marie Waller as a new member to our committee. A call for applications was made in March 2011 and the elections took place at our 40th Educational Meeting in London on 30 June 2011.
Marie has been working in Haematology and Stem Cell Transplant for 11 years. She has worked at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in her current role as transplant coordinator for nearly 5 of these. The Manchester Royal Infirmary undertake around 90+ transplants a year (Mud, sibling, cord and auto) and are involved in numerous transplant related clinical trials. She has also worked at the Christie.
She has attended the EBMT conference several times submitting work as poster and oral presentations. Of note is the Myeloma Patient Pathway she developed with a colleague.
Locally, she has set up a weekly education programme, is a member of the North West Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist Group (NWHNG) and earlier this year arranged a transplant nurses’ conference which was attended by 120 delegates from all over the UK.
The department she works in has recently undertaken their JACIE inspection and she is an active member of the JACIE and quality team.
We look forward to working with her and adding her valuable skills to our committee.
